About Us

Hillcroft Farm is the result of the vision of Misdee Wrigley.

Wrigley is a fourth generation horsewoman: the Wrigley family has a tradition of breeding fine horses that dates to the beginning of the 20th century. Misdee carries on that tradition with World Champion Saddlebreds and the rare Hackney horse.

The farm itself combines history and tradition with modern conveniences. Hillcroft Farm, named for Wrigley’s great-grandparents original farm in Wisconsin, is situated on 850 acres of rolling hills with lakes and woodlands. The original homesite is on the historic register, and the old barns were home to Thoroughbred greats. The new barn offers state-of the-art amenities within old world architecture. It is comprised of the farm offices, tack and storage rooms, farrier shop, show harness room, 15 roomy stalls and carriage house. A 200'x100' indoor arena is attached to the barn, making this facility comfortable and safe in any weather.

The Hackney Horse Division
Long known as the “High Stepper”, the Hackney horse is synonymous with classic driving and coaching. Unfortunately, as other breeds and disciplines have become more popular, the breed has declined precipitously. Wrigley has searched the world over for breeding stock to preserve this wonderful breed with a goal to restoring its popularity with the “driving set”.

Driving Division
Whether driving a single harness horse or a team of four, driving adds a whole new dimension of horsemanship for the horse enthusiast. A skilled competitor, Wrigley shows and promotes driving nationally and internationally. Wrigley serves as President of the World Coaching Club, an organization comprised of ladies who own and drive a coach and four.

Through consulting, education and sales, Hillcroft Farm strives to introduce more people to the exciting world of driving.

An avid competitor with national and world championship titles to her credit, Misdee Wrigley enjoys breeding and developing young horses as much as making victory passes. Many of her world champion mares have been put into the breeding program: “Never underestimate the power of the bottom line” is an old saying Wrigley takes to heart. She chooses each mating carefully, with a goal of combining beauty, talent and marketability in the future offspring.
